A Gas Safe registered engineer checks your gas appliances and the layout of the room, then fits each CO alarm or gas detector where it will work best, near the boiler, fire or cooker. We test every detector once it’s in and show you what the alarm sounds like and what to do if it goes off. Landlords in England must fit a CO alarm in any room with a fixed combustion appliance, such as a gas boiler or fire (gas cookers don’t count). We can fit alarms during your annual gas safety check.
CO alarm and detector care
A detector only protects you if it works. Test it regularly, replace the batteries when needed and replace the whole unit by the date shown on it.
